Shackleton's Boat Journey
F.A. Worsley
Price: £10.00
Shackleton's story of survival has long since entered into the realm of legend. This is one part of that dramatic period where after arriving an uninhabited island Shackleton, Worsley (the Captain of the Endurance) and four others sailed 800 miles in a small boat to the island of South Georgia. Having survived the voyage Shackleton, Worsley and Crean crossed South Georgia on foot to a whaling station where Shackleton was able able to organise and lead a rescue mission to save the remainder of his men back at the deserted island. He did not lose a single man. Shackleton's own book 'South' is also well worth reading.
