The theory goes that if you have a sextant, a watch, this book and have perhaps printed a few pages of forms and tables from the authors website you have all the information you need to navigate via the sun and stars. I think it would be wise to find time to study and practice before your GPS fails, but it is all here, and it is written a chatty style that draws you along.
