When Peter Marshell set off to sail around Ireland in June 1995, he had never skippered a yacht or sailed alone before. Drawn to the culture, history and people of the country, he visited the frendly harbours of Cork and Kerry; the remote islands of the Blaskets and Arans; the wild anchorages of Donegal; the ancient sites Newgrange and Tara; and the great cities of Dublin and Belfast. Along the way he met all manner of people; from fishermen, sailors, musicians and story tellers, to Naomie James, the first woman to circumnavigate the world and Charles Haughey, former taoiseach of Ireland.
